Know The Art of Well Water Softening

There is a difference between treated water and softened water. Treated water has no impurities while hard water contains specific ions- magnesium, potassium, and calcium. The main disadvantage of hard water is the fact that it causes havoc on plumbing materials as well as it creates a layer when you expose it to detergents. Hard water is common from private wells but the water treatment system first softens the water the removes all impurities. In this article, we want to keep an eye on well water softener.
This is a scientific process that removes all minerals from the well water. It involves the exchange of ions. Based on the reactivity series, you notice that potassium is the most reactive metals meaning the for you to remove them then you have to introduce a less reactive mineral to ensure that they are an autonomous hence permanent removal. Remember well water is a compound since it passes through the soil and mineral rock which changes its ion content.
Ions are classified as cations (positive charges) and anions (negative charges) Magnesium, calcium, sodium, and ion are positive charges which attract the negative charges based on the level of reactivity. This process involves filling a tank with the well water and the process is installed in the water system within the home. Although there is the commercial one that is installed at the treatment plant; you can still use this and still get the same water taste. The water passes through a tank that has negative charges and the most common one is the resin beads. They are then coated with the weak sodium ions to create a balance that supports the ion exchange. Once you pass the well water in the tank with the resin beads then the strong ions are separated to a separate media this is through knocking them away from the resin beads. The hard minerals are retained while the rest of the mineral passes through the other tank. This is not the end of the process. Once you have water without the strong ions then there is the reionization process.

There is also the option of a secondary tank where you have sodium crystals which when mixed with water you get an alkaline solution. This is what you need to start and complete the ion exchange process. Once the ionization process completes then the wastes which include the strong ions are separated from the clean water for further treatment. At this point, you now have a clean and softened well water.
There are many well water softening processes. It is upon you as the homeowner to choose what is best and most ideal based on your budget. As long as you have soft water then you can cook, clean, bathe and even drink it without feeling the taste. The best way to know if the water is hard then you notice that when you drink it, it tastes salty. In modern homes, it is advisable to use soft water since it has minimal effect on the plumbing materials. It is also a cost-effective feature since it reduces the use of detergent now that the ion exchange process is already done in the water softening process.
